Clem Sunter was educated at Winchester College and read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford. From 1990 to 1996 he served as Chairman and CEO the Gold and Uranium Division of Anglo American Corporation of South Africa. He was until recently Chairman of the Anglo American Chairman’s Fund.

In the early 1980s, Clem Sunter established a scenario planning function in Anglo with teams in London and Johannesburg. Using material from these teams, he put together a popular presentation entitled ‘The World and South Africa in the 1990s’. In it, two scenarios were offered: the ‘High Road’ of negotiation leading to a political settlement and the ‘Low Road’ of confrontation leading to a civil war and a wasteland. South Africa took the High Road. He is the author of seventeen books, several of them bestsellers. He has an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Cape Town for his work in the field of scenario planning. He was also voted by leading South African CEOs as the speaker who has made the most significant contribution to, and impact on, best practice and business in South Africa.

Professor Eddy Maloka is the Chief Executive Officer of African Peer Review Mechanism and Adjunct Professor (University of Witwatersrand, School of Governance, Public and Development Management). He was previously a Special Advisor to the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation (Republic of South Africa), South Africa’s Special Representative to the Great Lakes Region, and Special Advisor to the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa. He has also been an advisor to the Governance, Public Administration and Post-Conflict Reconstruction (NEPAD Secretariat), a member of the African Legacy Delegate, 2010 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee, Chief Executive Officer at the Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA), and a lecturer at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
