SOUTH AFRICA’S MOST DANGEROUS POLITICIAN

Pieter-Louis Myburgh, author and investigative journalist

In spite of Cyril Ramaphosa’s ‘new dawn’, there are powerful people in the ANC who risk losing everything if corruption and state capture finally end. At the centre of the old guard’s fightback efforts is Ace Magashule, viewed by some as South Africa’s most dangerous politician. In this lecture investigative journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh draws on the research that went into his recent book, Gangster State: Unravelling Ace Magashule’s Web of Capture, to explore Magashule’s relationship with the Gupta family, government projects that enriched his friends and family but failed the poor and the methods used to keep the former struggle activist in power.
