THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION AND SOUTH AFRICA’S EDUCATION CRISIS

Given the challenges of the current pandemic in the area of education, can the technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution provide the opportunities for resolving aspects of the crisis in South Africa’s public education system? Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg, co-author of Smart Maintenance for Human-Robot Interaction: An Intelligent Search Algorithmic Perspective as well as multiple scholarly publications on artificial intelligence, addresses this question.
